Few weeks ago I went to the Padholder Supercup Series @northwestkarting race at Greg Moore Raceway @westcoastkartclub. The main learning from this race was how to pass and race defensive driving. Also, I had friends and family coming over for the weekend, and on Sunday it was my birthday, making this weekend a really special race. I had the whole @wickedracing_ team, friends, and family celebrating my birthday at the track! On Friday, I was showing pretty good speed, being one of the fastest. On Saturday, I got second but could have gotten first if I had driven better in the last lap. On Sunday, I did an okay qualifying. I had some challenges with passing in the prefinal. On the second-to-last lap I went for a hard pass and got shuffled back from 2nd to 4th. Since I started the final in 4th, the top two got away and I finished 3rd. The main learning this weekend was that if you are going to pass defensive driving, you have to keep on defending after you pass them until you have a gap. Last weekend I went to the Mac track padholder supercup series race. Learning from last time, I focused on practicing hard and being consistent! I did a test weekend with Wicked racing and my teammate Max, and we did good. We worked out the driving, setup, and started working on consistency. During the regional race, we were at speed from session 1, and we had Sonny from the GFC team coach us. In the first race, I got 4th in qualifying, and 5th in the heat and I WON the final! During day two, we had issues with the weather and things did not go as planned. To summarize it pays off "Practice Hard & Race Easy!" and the unique learning was that you need to be both FAST and CONSISTENT to win! WINDMILLS OF THE NETHERLANDS!! Today we are going to explore a unique place with history and engineering, the Windmills of the Netherlands! This is how a windmill used to look like in the 19th century in a small region called Zaanstreek. This windmill is a wood windmill. It pulls the wood forward by a millimeter, saws it, and pulls it another millimeter. In the olden days, it took 6 hours to cut a piece of wood. With the windmill, they were able to successfully cut a piece of wood within 3 hours🥳! Windmills have sails which caught the wind, and powered the windmill. If the wind was too strong, they took down some sails. They could also rotate the windmill so it caught the wind better. Windmills are made up of twelve different types of wood too. This map shows how dense they were. Around 1100 by the 20th century in the region of Zaanstreek. Windmills are a marvelous piece of engineering pioneered in the Netherlands and are still operating in the modern day. This is a racing update on the Padholder race on April 20th weekend at @tricitykartclub at HornRapids Washington. The biggest learning was to not practice on race days! We had my science fair on the day of the practice, so we decided to skip practice and see what happens when we just show up on the race day. It turned out the race day ended up being a practice day with all kinds of issues to fix on the kart as well on driving. Halfway through the weekend, we found out that my clutch was gone, and the kart was not close to ready on the first day, and my lines were way off. By the time we fixed everything and had speed, it was the second day final, and I was starting in sixth. We managed to get a podium (3rd place). What I learnt is: Practice hard, Race Easy! I had a lot of fun participating in @monroe_sv_family_ymca recent Swimathon event! Collectively the community raised $3,500+ as part of their fundraiser. I swam a total of 66 laps which is 2 miles total during the event. Not only did I have the chance to support my community but I also got the opportunity to improve my cardio and endurance. Swimming is an activity that requires many muscles in the body to work together which also translates well to racing!
